Thank you for your interest. Authentication and Roles are two different things. Authentication applys to how users log into Bizagi. If you are looking for permissions over the Work Portal we would suggest you read: http://wiki.Bizagi.com/en/index.php?title=How_to_configure_access_control

What kinds of custom authentication, if any, are available with the J2EE version? This article only mentions custom authentication for the .Net version - does this mean I cannot do any form of 'custom authentication' on the J2EE version?

Custom authentication in the Enterprise JEE edition is possible but is done with a different setting within the configuration files of Bizagi in the Application server. This is done through a completely different series of steps for the authentication settings which use JAAS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Authentication_and_Authorization_Service).
Therefore, for the JEE edition, the authentication type in Bizagi Studio is set as "Bizagi authentication"; and further (custom) authentication options are defined with JAAS.

I would like to see either a link, or another section, that explains what, if any, authentication there on Bizagi Studio itself - is everyone able to do 'everything' or can different 'roles' be set up?
